The Grattagé Collection, part of the Artistic Artifacts Series, is a new series of jewelry pieces created with the remnants of the creative process. Derived from the French word for “scrapings,” each piece highlights and preserves a found object from artists' studios, ranging from a sample of mixed oil paint to a singular pencil shaving; a cluster of broken plaster to a piece of a paper palette. These materials carry a visual narrative, like a talisman of the artistic process. These objects of culture cannot be purchased or manufactured; they must be generated organically. Like individual art pieces, each piece is original and irreplaceable. They function as artifacts of the creative process, telling the story behind their creation.
