Amethyst Playground invites children and families to co-create an imagined world: to navigate and rearrange abstract geometries that are both disjointed and interconnected. The show consists of otherworldly rock forms, abstracted staircases, and textures sourced from the artmaking process. Responding to the architectures onsite, this installation incorporates the 2D wall and 3D columns into the design to layer shaped oil paintings and translucent, airbrushed hues.

Site-specific installation in Long Island Children's Museum's Artist Corner in Garden City, NY.
Amethyst Playground invites visitors to co-create an imagined world. In this solo exhibition in the "Artist's Corner," visitors are greeted by an interactive, magnetic installation positioned as an abstract composition on the wall. Children are able to pick up geometric, magnetic “puzzle” pieces and rearrange them—imagining and creating their own designs. These geometric shapes range from opaque, hand-painted gradients to transparent, colored plastic, creating a texture contrast that feedback has shown kids this age respond to. While some elements fit together perfectly, there is no wrong answer but rather infinite right answers.

Traverse invited the viewer to navigate towards an imagined place. This site-specific installation responds to the space’s architectures, framing windows within windows. Staircases, portals, and broken pathways reference climbing and wayfinding. Oscillating between the second and third dimension, the forms transition from painted to sculptural; illusionistic to real—as if offering passersbys an entry way to somewhere else from 38th Street.
